Local chapters are an excellent way to meet fellow
pilots. We are just starting to form these chapters, as an extension to the
national organization. Their purpose is to offer you community and fun
on a more regular basis. Not to mention a group of folks who are likely to know
about the peculiarites of your plane.
In fact, the photo above is a case in point. It was taken when Chapter 11 in
Seattle threw a party because a visiting Luscombe pilot dropped in from the
East Coast. (Actually, his entire family was in the area on vacation...). As
you would expect, any excuse for a party, and multiple families had a blast
meeting each other, and of course eating hamburgers.
Don't see a chapter in your area? We'd love to help you start one. Contact any
of the board members at the bottom of this page...
One other key function of the local chapters is an
opportunity to actively participate in events such as the Gathering of
Luscombes each year in Columbia, CA. We hear from many members that they want
to feel involved in the large events, and this is one way to do so. Your
chapter might, for example, be in charge of judging the spot landing contest.
Or welcoming pilots as they arrive. Nothing hard, we promise!
